I guess it took me just a while
until I could finally see
love would never ever come around
come around to meet me
I always wondered why
it never even said hello
I was never on its path
a place it would ever go
So now I sit here
a place all by myself
looking down the road
with me and no one else

Words can take you places
You thought you’d never go
It’s just that some of those places
are places you go alone
You find there are no directions
any way for you to get there
it’s all up to you
once you finally get here
But falling in love
was a place I never went
this life I’ve lived alone
would be all that I ever get
Looking back after a while
after all of my years
all that I was left with
was a lifetime of tears

So shortly after talking about wanting to submit one of my poems, I came across this article entitled “Farewell Poetry and Readings to Remember Loved Ones By” by Kayleigh Dray at Get Pocket. While I’m in the process of submitting that poem, what I can say is, it’s all about remembering a loved one.

That was a poem in which I just sat on our couch and wrote in like five minutes the other day. I think it was a culmination of what I have been feeling as I watch what’s happening half away around the world in Ukraine. As fast as I wrote that is how fast I hope it ends. The only thing that remains I hope is the kindness and love.
