Drawing

So the other day when my oldest and I went to a local art store to get some construction paper for him, something motivated me to buy a sketch pad. Why exactly, I don’t know since I haven’t drawn since probably high school. Now I just need to grab my pencils and then we’ll see what happens.

Photography

So a week or so ago, I came across an ad about a local art gallery where if you’re a member, you can have your own exhibit. After visiting their website, I’ve come to realize that maybe this is my opportunity to show some of my photography. I’ve always wanted to, I’ve just never known how to go about it. I guess my next step is to start framing a few of my pictures. I’ve been stockpiling frames and matting, courtesy of a local thrift shop, for a while now.

Creative juices

When I came across this article entitled “Creativity & Madness”Kirkwood: Artist Works with Psychology Group to Determine Link Between Art & Science by Melissa Wilkinson over at the Webster-Kirkwood Times, it made we wonder where poetry falls in all of this? Guess I’ll have to visit their website, www.creativityandmadness.com. I must admit, I’ve thought about drawing or painting every now and again. The last time I really did any was back in high school.

Framing it out

So the other day my oldest and I went over to one of our favorite stores where they sell used items and as usual, I purchased another frame. Unlike most of them however, where I usually like either the frame or matting, these both work really well together.

Now I just need to find the perfect picture. Of course, as I continue organizing my frames and matting this holiday season, I also need to work with what I have and create more of those great combinations. Eventually, I would like to try a maybe even sell a few.

Pieces of nature

When I came across this picture, it brought back many memories of my time with my kids as we were skipping stones in the Meramec river. I came across many pieces of glass, rocks and sticks, some of which I still have today sitting on our window sills and in a few jars as well. Makes me wonder what I could do with my pieces of nature.

Research

So this isn’t the first time I’ve posted a piece of artwork where I didn’t remember the artist but this one I should be able to track down as I believe I came across it on one of our trips north to Duluth, Minnesota.

While we’re planning to do a lot of relaxing at our cabin this year, one of the couple of side trips we’re planning to do however is to Duluth, so being the poem librarian (even on vacation) I have plans to find the answer to this burning question. In other words, stay tune!
