Submissions

So over the weekend, I was working a little on trying to frame a picture or two of mine. Then yesterday, I got an e-mail about a picture I submitted to the photo contest at Americas Favorite Photos and last night as I was sitting in bed, re-reading one of my poems, I was thinking maybe, I’ll submit one one of my poems to a local magazine entitled River Styx. Tomorrow, who knows.

Afterwards

After writing Delving into Dickinson, I realized that I’ve only just begun delving into The Top 500 Poems. I’m hoping this weekend I’ll get the chance to read some more. I know I also have a couple of photo contest I’m hoping to enter, so who knows, maybe I’ll also finally sit down and frame one or two of my pictures.

Photography

So a week or so ago, I came across an ad about a local art gallery where if you’re a member, you can have your own exhibit. After visiting their website, I’ve come to realize that maybe this is my opportunity to show some of my photography. I’ve always wanted to, I’ve just never known how to go about it. I guess my next step is to start framing a few of my pictures. I’ve been stockpiling frames and matting, courtesy of a local thrift shop, for a while now.

Just reading and later, hopefully writing

With vacation in full swing, it’s been a bit crazy but, so far lots of fun. I have already gotten some reading done and still plan to find some time to write, beyond blog posts I mean. That said, I also just entered one of the pictures I took in a photo contest over at Time Lifer. Last night in fact, was the deadline. Here’s hoping.

A picture that speaks volumes

So I was going through some old pictures of mine yesterday, when I came across this one I took during a visit to Latvia. While I don’t remember the town, this former concentration camp spoke volumes to me. To stand where people lost their lives, was a moment I’ll never forget and and a place that was impossible not to hear, even today.
